Homemade disc harrow
Designs with a disk mechanism can also be made independently. To do this you need:
- prepare the main frame of the structure;
- prepare attachments (disks);
- manufacture rotation mechanisms;
- prepare a trailer attachment;
- subsequently all this is combined into one mechanism.
Here it is necessary to take into account that the plowing disc is hung at the beginning of the frame, and the loosening element is mounted at the end of the entire structure.
This is interesting: how to make a harrow for a walk-behind tractor.
Tracked modules
A module or attachment with tracks allows you to make a heavier and more powerful structure out of a walk-behind tractor.
The tracked attachment recommended for the Cascade should have approximately the following overall dimensions: length 95 cm, width 22 cm, height 40 cm. The average weight of such a module is 50 kg.
The attachment for the “Cascade” is also suitable for the “Neva” or “Oka” walk-behind tractor.
Harrow for walk-behind tractor Neva
A rotary harrow for a walk-behind tractor with a round bushing Ø30.2 mm is mounted on Neva walk-behind tractors and their analogues.
Consists of two sections. Each section is mounted on the drive shaft of the walk-behind tractor. The section length is 700 mm, diameter - 320 mm. The rotary harrow for the Neva walk-behind tractor is used for pre-sowing tillage, as well as for tillage after harvesting grain crops. Also on sale is a toothed harrow for walk-behind tractors and motor-cultivators.
The cutting tool of the harrow is six cutting plates (blades), which are mounted on four transverse disks. The tangential arrangement of the plates to the soil provides an easy cut of the upper soil level at a depth of 5-7 cm.
Harrowing the soil not only destroys vegetation, but also improves the air supply to the soil, breaks up the top crust of the soil, etc. which results in increased soil productivity.

Homemade harrows for walk-behind tractors
It’s much nicer if the harrow on the walk-behind tractor is made by yourself. So, today we will tell you how to make a harrow yourself.
The following types of harrows are used for walk-behind tractors:
The rotary harrow allows you to effectively remove the top layer of soil. The processing depth can be adjusted - from 4 to 8 centimeters. The width of the harrow is a very important factor that affects the speed of tillage in the garden. Obviously, the larger the harrow, the greater the power of the walk-behind tractor should be. Rotary harrows have drums with sharp metal strips (see video) that are installed at an angle. Moreover, such a harrow allows you to remove plant debris from the soil.

Do-it-yourself harrow for a walk-behind tractor: drawings
Drawing of a homemade design
A disc harrow does the same job, it just has a different design. Here the working tool is disks that are mounted separately on special racks. A tooth harrow has teeth that are mounted at equal distances on one structure. Typically the teeth are up to 30 centimeters long.
So, before you make your own harrow, you need to decide on the design features and also study the drawings.
The harrow's design is very simple. This is a metal frame that has a mount for a walk-behind tractor. To make repairs easy, the teeth should not be welded, but bolted.

Basic attachments for Neva walk-behind tractors
As for other brands of walk-behind tractors, for the Neva walk-behind tractor, a number of standard attachments are produced, used everywhere, as well as specific equipment for performing local rare work.
The main types include mowers, plows, hillers, and potato diggers. Specific types include a walk-behind pump, a baler, a fertilizer spreader and other attachments to the Neva, which many summer residents try to make with their own hands.
As can be seen from the table, the attachments for the Neva are quite diverse, including P1-20/3 plows, KR-05 mower, SNB snow blower and much more.
Let us describe some types of equipment to understand their necessity and importance.
Reversible plow for the Neva walk-behind tractor - advantages and application
The plow is used to plow the land, making it more “airy”, thereby ensuring better seeding, and is also used to bury fertilizers.
Reversible plows, which are also called reversible, due to the shape of the plowshare in the form of a curved feather, turn the soil over, making the soil more crumbly and easier for further processing.
Hiller for walk-behind tractor Neva
Everyone is familiar with such attachments as a hiller. The hiller is used for loosening the soil, cultivating furrows, row spacing, in general, it is a good help in cultivating the soil.
There are disc hillers with adjustable working width; its advantages are obvious; you can easily set the desired width for processing.
Below in the drawing is an example of a disk hiller for walk-behind tractors Neva, Cascade, Tselina, OKA
Baler for walk-behind tractor
Quite rare equipment, but very useful, is used for collecting hay, straw and forming it into bales or rolls. Manufacturers of the Neva do not produce such a hitch, but it can be selected and purchased from other manufacturers.
Blade
The blade shovel used for clearing snow together with the Cascade walk-behind tractor can be regular or reinforced, with or without a rubber pad along the bottom edge.
Blade shovel Motoblock shovel
Standard blade width for walk-behind tractors: 1 m. Blade shovels are produced by such manufacturers as TM Yarilo, Zirka, Korund, Volodar, Buff, Brigadir and others.
Homemade all-terrain vehicle from the Neva walk-behind tractor
I made myself a homemade all-terrain vehicle from a Neva walk-behind tractor.
I wanted to make a homemade all-terrain vehicle - a snowmobile, for traveling around the village. I reviewed several options and decided to build something based on my Neva walk-behind tractor.
The walk-behind tractor is equipped with a four-stroke, air-cooled gasoline engine with a power of 6.5 horsepower and a reduction gearbox. To make it an all-terrain vehicle, the walk-behind tractor had to be slightly modified.
From pieces of profile pipe, I made a cart with a pair of wheels (from a garden wheelbarrow) and a seat. I also made a pair of removable skis that fit on the rear wheels of the cart if you have to travel in the snow. The trolley is connected to the walk-behind tractor frame with a hinge joint.
Then I improved the wheels. I removed the walk-behind wheels, they are small, and replaced them with wheels and tires from the car. To increase the cross-country ability of an all-terrain vehicle made from a walk-behind tractor, I placed a conveyor belt on top of the tires with lugs made from wooden blocks secured to the belt with self-tapping screws.
This modification allows the walk-behind tractor to quickly move through shallow snow; if you remove the skis from the rear wheels, you can drive off-road.
Homemade has its pros and cons. Minimum costs and you get an excellent mini all-terrain vehicle - a snowmobile for fishing trips or just for rides. If desired, the wheels can be changed back to walk-behind tractors and the walk-behind tractor can be used for its intended purpose. But large wheels somewhat impair the maneuverability of the all-terrain vehicle; turning is not very convenient.
Cross-country ability depends on the power of the engine, this walk-behind tractor has a 6.5 hp engine, the all-terrain vehicle rides perfectly on rolled snow, a little deeper - the wheels are already buried. The ideal option for a mini all-terrain vehicle is a 10-13 horsepower engine, then you can drive in deeper snow.
I suggest watching a short video: an all-terrain vehicle based on the Neva walk-behind tractor.
Mowers
Many models of mowers are suitable for the Cascade walk-behind tractor, for example: SHIP rotary mower, Motor Sich rotary mower, Forte belt mower, Centaur KR-02, K-1 from Zubr, Zirka, Patriot and others.
For more delicate work than simple grass mowing, the manufacturer recommends using segment mowers.

Adapters
The adapter is a riding structure attached to the walk-behind tractor. It is equipped with a seat for the operator of the machine. Models of adapters suitable for use with the Cascade: motor tractor adapter from, AU-1, BUM-3, universal adapter for walk-behind tractors Zirka, Neva, Patriot, Motor Sich AD-2V.

Optional equipment
The Salyut has a specific design feature - its engine is shifted forward, which perfectly balances the plow mounted at the rear. Compared to the Neva and Oka, the center of gravity of the Salyut walk-behind tractor is shifted much closer to the surface of the earth, which makes it easier to control the walk-behind tractor, as a result, there is no need for additional balancing, and the load on the hands when moving is greatly reduced.
According to reviews from owners and repairmen of walk-behind tractors, it is most comfortable and efficient to work with Japanese engines. Pay attention to the video footage - the walk-behind tractor confidently walks along the furrow, without much effort from its owner. In the video you can see that when the operator releases the steering wheel, the walk-behind tractor with the plow continues to walk exactly along the track and plow at the same pace.
Depending on various tasks, axle extensions and metal wheels with weights are used. The wheels are installed with lugs that have a large supporting area so as not to fall through on loose soil.
Also, the lugs for the walk-behind tractor allow you to adjust the desired distance between the rows.
The universal hitch mode ensures a stable position of the machine during operation and makes it easier to adjust the plow angles in three planes. There is a variant of wheels with weighting, then the plow goes even deeper into the ground.

Speed reducers
The creeper is designed to increase the traction force of the unit by increasing the torque. For the Cascade walk-behind tractor, as for other units, the speed reducer is selected based on the power of the unit itself.
Creeper "ZIRKA-135"
That is, to a 6 hp walk-behind tractor. you need a device marked “for cars with a power of 6 hp.” For the Cascade walk-behind tractor, you can use Zirka creepers - 105-135 (width 50 cm, length 24 cm, weight 17 kg), Pubert, Solo, Husqvarna, Viking, Robix, TM Yarilo and others.
Zykov's plow, video and description:
A distinctive feature of this device is that, thanks to its specially designed shape, it perfectly plows the ground, crumbling and turning it over. This feature will allow you to almost completely get rid of weeds.
's plow consists of a body with a ploughshare, a stand attached to a walk-behind tractor, a field board, with the help of which the equipment rests on the walls of the furrow and makes the model more stable, a supporting part, a feather, which, by turning the soil, makes it possible to obtain even and uniform arable land.
Rotary plow and its characteristics:
This unit is fundamentally different from other models, and therefore is often compared to a cultivator. Structurally, this unit consists of several plowshares, curved in shape, mounted on one axis. When turned on, the axis rotates and turns the earth. This significantly distinguishes a rotary plow from a cultivator.
With little physical effort, the rotary unit can cultivate the soil to a depth of 25-30 cm. Working with such equipment is quite simple, since you can move along various trajectories, and not just in a straight line, unlike others. Disputes flare up among experts regarding the effectiveness of this unit, but it is still popular among summer residents who use it when processing compacted or overgrown soil.
Purchasing an expensive rotary plow for processing a small area is not advisable; it will be cheaper to pay for the work of professionals with the appropriate equipment. After plowing the soil for the first time, working with it will subsequently become much easier. Not very dense soil can be processed with units of a simpler design. Therefore, solve your problems based on these recommendations, do not spend extra money for the sake of capacities that will run idle. See you again and good luck in processing your site!
