Today, Turkish Ford Truck has appointed the Russian company TURBOTRUCKS as its exclusive distributor.
One of the prominent manufacturers of heavy trucks on the world market, the Turkish Ford Trucks, at today’s press conference at the Swissotel Hotel Moscow, announced the TURBOTRUCKS company as the exclusive distributor of its trucks in Russia.
The event was also attended by the shareholders of the Hoet Family and Ackermans & Van Haaren Investment Company, General Director of TH Group Piet Wauters and Serge Van Hulle, Director of TURBOTRUCKS in Russia, Vice President of Ford Trucks Serhan Turfan, Director of International Operations of Ford Trucks Emrah Duman, Managing Director Director of Ford Trucks Russia Bahadir Koc, representatives of Ford Trucks and TURBOTRUCKS, as well as other prominent guests.
Thus, the TURBOTRUCKS company, part of the TH Group, has more than 20 years of experience in interacting with the world's leading manufacturers of trucks, and has accumulated extensive experience in implementing various projects in the field of commercial vehicles in nine countries in Europe and Asia. Today, TH Truck has 37 dealers selling new trucks, LCVs and trailers in five countries: Belgium, France, Bulgaria, Russia and Belarus. In 2020, 4,750 units were sold. trucks, including leasing and rental. TH Lease's rental and leasing operations span Belgium (the largest local leasing firm), France, Bulgaria, Romania, Russia, Belarus, Poland and Portugal. The leasing fleet is 4,200 cars.
TURBOTRUCKS will be responsible for both the promotion of Ford Trucks and after-sales service, as well as the organization of the supply and distribution of original spare parts through a regional service network. By the way, according to the director of the TURBOTRUCKS company, Mr. Serge Van Hull, the preparatory work took a whole year.
In the next two years, Ford Trucks, together with TURBOTRUCKS, intends to expand the geography of the service network to all the main highways of the country. In addition, naturally, one of the most modern and advanced online stores will be involved. An online catalog of spare parts has already been posted and literally tomorrow the real work begins to deliver the requested spare parts and consumables to customers. According to him, the price for the entire Ford Trucks model range will be very attractive for Russian customers, for example, for the Ford1842T truck tractor it will be noticeably lower (less than ₽5 million) than for similar products of the European Seven, and will not differ too much from the price Russian equivalent - KAMAZ-5490. Moreover, in responses to journalists from specialized media, Mr. Serge Van Hull emphasized that the TURBOTRUCKS company intends to create a new, so-called “rational” segment in the Russian market, which in terms of price and quality will be between the “premium” segment, where all “European Seven” and “economy” brands, i.e. the budget segment where KAMAZ and MAZ reign, as well as the Chinese manufacturers adjacent to them. The ruble price will be fixed, and loyalty programs will be offered to owners and drivers. In the longer term, a wider 2.5-meter cabin for long-haul tractors will appear, and it will be produced in parallel with the current 2.2-meter width.
One of the most important factors for this partnership is the availability of spare parts and consumables. Naturally, customers will also be offered special support programs, for example, a third year warranty. It is envisaged that the main logistics terminal will be located in Moscow, and from there deliveries will be made to regional warehouse branches.
Ford Trucks Global Operations Director Emrah Duman said: “After our first contact with TURBOTRUCKS, we realized that both parties shared the same vision for the business structure and would be good partners. This cooperation will allow us to restructure the distribution strategy of Ford Trucks in Russia, will lead us to the rapid expansion of our service network, as well as to a significant improvement in the supply of spare parts throughout Russia. With our new partner, TURBOTRUCKS, we plan to provide customers with the highest level of service. We are very pleased to be a partner of TURBOTRUCKS, and I believe that this company will represent our brand in Russia in the best possible way.”
In turn, the director of TURBOTRUCKS, Mr. Serge Van Hull, said: “We are proud that Ford Trucks chose our company as an exclusive distributor in Russia and are convinced that the experience accumulated over the past twenty years will help in successfully promoting the brand in the Russian market. TURBOTRUCKS and Ford Trucks will offer customers in Russia unique conditions - 2 years of full warranty for Ford trucks. We are confident that customers will appreciate Ford Trucks vehicles, the quality of service provided and the availability of original spare parts.”
Ford Trucks Help
The Ford Trucks division is one of the reputable international truck manufacturers. The production range includes tractors, construction trucks and trucks weighing more than 16 tons.
Thus, in Brazil it cooperates with the South American branch of Ford S.America, in China with the JMC company, and in Russia with the Avtotor Group of Companies. In addition, light commercial vehicles of the Connect and Transit series are also produced in Turkey. By the way, their assembly is also carried out in Russia at the facilities of the Ford-Elabuga enterprise.
The largest shareholders of Ford Trucks are the American company Ford Motor Co. and the Turkish Koҫ Group (41% of shares each), and another 18% is publicly available to small shareholders. Ford Trucks shares have been traded on the Istanbul Stock Exchange since 1986.
In 2020, 110 thousand Transit Courier light delivery models, 315 thousand Transit LCVs and 15 thousand heavy Ford Trucks were produced in Turkey. Revenue amounted to $6.9 billion, and $4.9 billion worth of products were exported, which was the best result among Turkish automakers.
The company employs 11.5 thousand people, of which 1.5 thousand are in the research center, including 500 designers directly involved in the development of heavy trucks. Here they develop both models for the global market, including testing in various climatic and road conditions around the world, and develop components, including power units and axles.
Ford Trucks currently has operations in Eastern and Central Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Russia and the CIS and continues to develop an international network across three continents. In 2017, dealer networks covered 28 countries. In 2018, their number will increase to 40, and by 2020 - to 50. This year, the network will cover 18 countries in Europe, 8 countries in Africa, 10 countries in the Middle East, 5 countries in Eurasia and, of course, Russia.
Movement to Russia
According to Ford Trucks, Russia is promising because, firstly, it is the 6th largest economy in the world; secondly, potentially the largest sales market - 100 thousand trucks in 10 years; The country's geographical location and vast territory make it a natural bridge between Europe and Asia and even North America.
The Russian market of heavy trucks (gross weight over 16 tons) after a decline in 2014–2015. more than doubled (to 31.4 thousand), began to recover in 2016 and reached 61 thousand in 2017.
Hence, Ford Truck expects that 25% of its sales will come from exports to Russia. The company envisions 4 main components for success in Russia: wide coverage of both the country’s territory and the creation of an international network; availability and distribution of spare parts; localization of production (“Avtotor”); adaptation of the product and service to local conditions and specifics. For example, for Russia, new models of truck tractors 1848T (4x2) and 3542T (6x4) have been adapted for semi-trailers with a carrying capacity of 40 and 80 tons.
The new model of the 1848T E5 truck tractor (the presentation of which took place just during the press conference) will undoubtedly become one of the most popular Ford Trucks models on Russian roads.
The construction series includes a dump truck, a concrete mixer truck and a concrete pump with wheel arrangements of 4x2, 6x2, 6x4, 8x2 and 8x4.
In the segment of delivery road trucks, chassis with wheel arrangements from 4x2 to 8x2 are offered, and in the segment of chassis for municipal and special equipment - 4x2, 6x2 and 8x2.
Accordingly, in the field of sales, a transition is planned from direct management of the manufacturer by private dealers to work through an official distributor.
New to the model line is the construction series 4142XD for heavy-duty and
truck tractor 3542T 6x4.
In general, the scope of application of Ford Trucks chassis and tractors is very large and diverse, so that almost every customer will be able to choose the chassis version they need for a universal or special superstructure, trailer or semi-trailer. In the future, all types of add-ons will be localized in Russia.
The Sharing the Load concept involves reducing and redistributing the load when operating new Ford Trucks by reducing fuel consumption by an average of 8.5%, reducing maintenance costs due to an increase in service mileage up to 75,000 km, as well as affordable prices for spare parts, as well as attractive service packages, including an extended (up to 3 years) warranty and replacement of wearing parts.
An “Arctic package” is also offered, which includes all the components and assemblies necessary for operation at low temperatures, from an insulated cabin and pre-heaters, right down to special windshield wipers.
The TURBOTRUCKS company will also offer customers a trade-in service, and owners of used cars will receive spare parts at a reasonable price.
The dealer network in Russia in 2020 will cover 9 cities: Moscow (north), St. Petersburg, Kaliningrad, Smolensk, Rostov-on-Don, Tolyatti, Ufa, Yekaterinburg and Chelyabinsk. In 2020, the dealer network will already cover 18 cities, including: Voronezh, Moscow (south), Nizhny Novgorod, Kazan, Krasnodar, Volgograd, Novosibirsk, Omsk and Kemerovo. The head office will be located in Moscow. The turnover of spare parts assumes an increase in sales of €25 million, the range of available goods reaches 10,500 items, including an assortment for all European truck brands, its own door-to-door delivery is provided, as well as an online catalog of Ford Trucks.
Sales of spare parts will be carried out by the end of 2018 through the Central warehouse in Moscow, 3 regional warehouses in St. Petersburg, Rostov-on-Don and Yekaterinburg, as well as 5 dealer centers in Ufa, Tolyatti, Smolensk, Kaliningrad and Chelyabinsk.

Ford F-MAX wins Truck of the Year 2020
The Ford Truck stand at the 2020 IAA Motor Show was very busy. The winner of the International Truck of the Year 2020 competition was awarded here. The winner was the newest Ford F-MAX long-haul tractor. This is the verdict of the jury, which includes 23 journalists from 23 European countries.
With the new Ford F-MAX long-haul tractor, Ford Truck plans to test competitors from the Big Seven European heavy-duty truck manufacturers. The new product is named after the legendary Ford F Series cars.
With the prize in hand is the Chairman of the Board of Ford Otosan, Mr. Haydar Yenigun.
The new tractor is the result of 5 years of work by more than 500 Ford Otosan specialists. 233 prototypes were tested in 11 countries on 4 continents and covered over 5 million km in 15,500 hours. The Ford F-MAX received a completely new cabin with cutting-edge technology - 2.5 m wide. There is a completely new dashboard - with an 8-inch TFT on-board computer monitor and a 7.2-inch touchscreen display for the multimedia system. The driver will appreciate the multifunctional steering wheel and the seat with numerous adjustments (in the longitudinal direction within 260 mm).
/
The cabin also features a patented airplane storage system, similar to passenger aircraft. The top shelf tilts up at a 90-degree angle, making the cabin as spacious as possible. Particular convenience is provided by a completely flat floor, without a protruding motor tunnel.
/
Under the cabin of the Ford F-MAX is the latest 6-cylinder turbodiesel E6D Ecotorq of Euro 6 standard - with a displacement of 12.7 liters and a power of 500 hp. The maximum torque is 2500 Nm and the braking power is 400 kW. Compared to its predecessor, it consumes 6% less fuel. This is thanks to E-APU technology, the Eco-Roll function (automatic inclusion of “neutral” in the gearbox) and predictive cruise control (Max Cruise). Ultimately, overall operating costs are reduced by 7%.
The engine is paired with a 12-speed ZF automatic transmission, which has two modes – Eco-Mode and Power-Mode. The engine uses a variable geometry turbocharger, a pump and a compressor with variable operating speed. An intarder with a braking power of 1000 kW is available as an option.
The Ford F-MAX tractor unit features revolutionary ConnectTruck technology. It allows not only to carry out remote diagnostics of all vehicle systems. The system analyzes the topography of the area and road conditions and selects the optimal speed, which helps reduce fuel consumption by 4%.
Ford F-MAX is equipped with modern active safety systems. These are Adaptive Cruise Control, an emergency braking assistance system - Advanced Emergency Brake System, a hill start assistance system - Hill Launch Assist, a lane tracking system Lane Departure Warning and, of course, an ESC stabilization system.
It should be noted that the official dealer of Ford Trucks in Ukraine is the AVTEK company.
