Mini tractor with motor from a walk-behind tractor

If you decide to install a unit from a walk-behind tractor on your mini tractor, then this will not be very wise, since subsequently you will not be able to effectively carry out agricultural work. Therefore, it would be more expedient to convert the walk-behind tractor itself into a mini tractor, which will not take you a lot of time, effort and money. The video provides detailed instructions for the modification.

You can use all the parts (seat, wheels, metal sheets, etc.) from old cars or find them from friends or even in a landfill. A tractor, completely converted from a walk-behind tractor, will become your main assistant for working on the site, especially if you additionally install the appropriate attachments on it.

User manual

First launch and run-in

At the first start, you should add engine oil and diesel, and then proceed to break-in. This procedure involves using the Stavropolets mini tractor at a third of its maximum power. This is necessary for high-quality lubrication of all engine components. Run-in should last about 10 hours. Then the oil should be changed.

Conservation

Every owner of a Stavrapolets mini tractor should know how to preserve it:

  • Place in a covered room (garage);
  • Drain engine oil and fuel;
  • Clean from dust and dirt;
  • Remove the battery and spark plugs.

DIY mini tractor with ZID engine

This solution is the best option if you plan to carry out standard work with equipment, that is, plowing the ground. But in order to make your future tractor complete, you will have to take the following steps:

  1. Take dimensions from the rear of the engine and machine a shaft to fit them.
  2. We take two bearings and make a housing from them to accommodate the shaft.
  3. There should be a 21-tooth sprocket on the box, and a 15-tooth sprocket on the gearbox.
  4. We connect the box to the engine using a 19mm chain.
  5. We leave the clutch the same as the Zhiguli had.

The rotations to which the pump and PTO will be subjected will also be carried out by a 19mm chain. The photo shows what your future minitractor will look like in reality.

Mini tractor: UD2 engine

A tractor equipped with a UD2 engine will have its drawbacks, the main one of which is the inability to work with a double-furrow plow. This is due to the fact that such equipment is too light in weight, and the motor will not have enough grip characteristics. Moreover, if the structure is significantly heavier, the engine power may not be enough, which will negatively affect the operation of the plow.

There is still a way out - this is to position the engine so that it is on a double-arm lever. Thus, it will go into the ground in a vertical position, in the form of a parallelogram. In this case, it is best to impart the tilt to the plow using two flanges taken from the cardan, and the lateral displacement is provided by two metal plates.

The question regarding the choice of engine for a mini tractor does not pose a serious problem. You have the opportunity to either purchase a new diesel engine for your equipment, or an already used one. In addition, if you have the appropriate knowledge and skills to install a motor on a mini tractor with your own hands, then here you can use parts from old Soviet cars or use a walk-behind tractor for this.

Microtractors for the garden

This class of equipment usually includes those units whose power exceeds 5 hp. They have many advantages over riders. First of all, this is, of course, the presence of a large number of options and the ability to install additional equipment for a variety of purposes.

There are the following types of mounted options:

hillers;

couplings;

plows;

mulching devices.

When choosing a microtractor, you should focus on the purpose for which you are purchasing it. If you need to care for potatoes in your summer cottage, you should focus on equipment that involves installing a hiller and a plow. For lawn care, it is advisable to have a device that mulches the mown grass and lawn.

The weight of the microtractor should be objectively assessed. This type of equipment usually weighs more than 100 kg and, if handled carelessly, can damage crop plants. Therefore, it is necessary to take this point into account if you plan to cultivate land where there are already planted plants. If your summer cottage is located on marshy land, then you may want to choose a lighter model. Or immediately purchase lugs or something similar.

The type of tractor in question is perfect for transporting goods. Therefore, if you absolutely require the ability to transport goods, then you should choose a microtractor. Some are quite powerful. For example, the M125-85FH model from McCulloch is optionally equipped with a special hook that allows you to attach a cart or something similar to the equipment. The power of this unit is 8.8 hp, which is more than enough to transport small-sized cargo.

The variety of small-sized tractors under consideration can also easily cope with snow removal. To do this, you just need the specific model to support the necessary options - and you can use this microtractor not only in the summer for mowing the lawn, but also in the winter for removing snow.

Micro tractors are suitable for cultivating a plot of land of no more than one or two hectares. For a larger volume of work, you should purchase more powerful and larger equipment.
